KALTOSTAT® Dressing is a soft, sterile dressing made of Calcium-Sodium Alginate fiber that converts to a firm moist gel/fiber mat on contact with fluid
- Mode of Action
- On contact with exudates the dressing gradually forms a firm, moist gel which is highly absorbent.
- This gel forms a moist, environment at the wound interface to provide optimal wound healing conditions
- Allows easy and trauma-free removal with little or no damage to the newly formed tissue
- Upon contact with a bleeding wound, Kaltostat promotes hemostasis, providing a matrix to support clotting
- Designed to absorb exudate and to help control minor bleeding, this primary dressing should be used with a secondary cover dressing
- Indication
- As a primary dressing for moderately to highly exuding chronic and acute wounds, and for wounds with minor bleeding.
- Moderately to heavily exuding wounds including:
- Pressure injuries (Stage I-IV)
- Venous ulcers
- Arterial and diabetic ulcers
